We don't always work with source code - wouldn't it be nice to check the diffs on some Word and PDF documents? Thankfully, Kaleidoscope has got us covered! Text Diff in Kaleidoscope Working with PDF and Word Documents You can switch views by accessing the top right corner. It also provides three different layouts: Blocks, Fluid (my favorite!), and Unified. Kaleidoscope offers a great deal of detail and customization on how to visualize text diffs, such as showing/hiding line numbers, invisible characters or whitespace. Most developers will perform some kind of text comparison most of the time, so it makes sense to cover this first. Before we see how we can use it together with Tower, let's have a look at some of its nifty features. Kaleidoscope Git CLI integration Exploring Kaleidoscope's FeaturesĪs a standalone application, Kaleidoscope can already prove itseful quite useful. ![]() We just need to open Tower's Preferences and choose the "Git Config" tab. That way, we can quickly open any file with Kaleidoscope by right-clicking a file and selecting "Open Diff Tool for ", among other actions (more on that later). Let's switch gears for a brief second and also set Kaleidoscope as the default Diff and Merge tool in Tower. You can even use the Clipboard to import files! You will also notice that Kaleidoscope provides plenty of integration options - not only for macOS's system tools, such as Services, Shortcuts or the Share Extension, but also for Xcode, Safari, VSCode and even Alfred, to name a few. Simply head over to the "Git" section and click on both buttons: Kaleidoscope Git CLI integration Here, we recommend installing the ksdiff command-line tool (a requirement for other integrations to work, even if you don't plan to use the terminal) and making Kaleidoscope the default diff and merge tool. You can try it for free for 15 days, so anyone can follow along and try all these features free of charge.Īfter installation is complete, you'll be presented with an onboarding screen highlighting some of Kaleidoscope's advanced features and integration options. Kaleidoscope can be downloaded from the Mac App Store or directly from the official website. In this post, we'll focus on Kaleidoscope, the most popular tool out there for macOS (according to our recent Mac Dev survey) - that works seamlessly with Tower! Getting Started with Kaleidoscope 3 There are several free and paid Diff Tools available for the Mac. While this should be sufficient for some folks, you may need support for more file formats, like PDF or Word, the possibility of comparing entire directories side by side, or more customizable viewing options to comprehend what changed more conveniently. Tower, our Git client, is another good example: it can compare not only differences in text but also in images (it supports PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, JPEG2000, and HEIC). We've come a long way since then, of course, with multiple apps (such as code editors) offering good diffing support, either natively or via plug-ins. Effortless to install multi-track audio editor Amadeus Pro enables you to quickly edit your own audio tracks in a clean and organized environment, without having to deal with complicated tools. I'm only bringing it up to prevent someone from getting the wrong first impression about the program.Advanced audio editing suites usually require a lot of resources and time invested in learning how to properly use all the included functions. I'm not posting this as a criticism (five stars, remember?) because I have every confidence it's going to be resolved soon. ![]() ![]() Since I can use the program on a different (non-Retina) PC I can afford to be patient. I had to force-quit the app and based on the crash report that was sent to him he reached out to me with an explanation. There's a screen-drawing bug that's giving quite a performance hit. Something to be aware of at the moment: if your *only* PC is a late 2012 PC *with Retina Display* (non-Retina display's aren't affected), you may want to hold off. I was a Cool Edit Pro/Audition and Sound Forge user for years, and this sits in that same sweet spot for me. Functionally it's great for folks who need more than what something like Audacity gives you, but don't need the complexity of a Pro Tools or even Logic. I'm giving it five stars not only for the functionality, but also because of the responsiveness of the author. The features in this app are too numerous to mention in this little box, but if you are a DJ that cares about the way your songs sound through the Mains, this is, by far, the best app. If your song has bad stereo imaging, you can either simply mono it or correct the balance. If you apply the effect to heavily, then your song sounds like it's in a can.Īnother neat feature is it will list effects that you use most often in an "Actions List" window which comes in handy if you want to apply the effect without having to go through the setup process (meaning once you set the effect up, you can use that same effect just by clicking it in the Actions List window. The neat thing about the Denoising is it's simple and it doesn't get rid of any top-end of the song. Some of the songs that I do are old songs where there were tape hiss, this app has a feature "Denoising>White Noise", depending on the strength of the signal, I generally start at -70db and work my way up from there (up meaning -65db then -60db, etc). You can get rid of dead air at the beginning of and the end of songs easily. I load entire albums at a time and it loads fast and flawlessly. If you're a DJ and want to cleanup some of your songs, this app is great. However, both deliver responsive handling for everyday driving. The 225/75r16 offers sharper handling response and turn-in due to its shorter, stiffer sidewall and smaller contact patch.īy comparison, the flexible 235/85r16 sidewall exhibits more body roll when cornering. The 235/85r16 visually appears slightly more aggressive due to its larger diameter and width. The 225/75r16 transmits more road harshness into the cabin. ![]() This flexible sidewall absorbs road irregularities better than the shorter 225/75r16 sidewall, giving a smoother ride. The taller sidewall of the 235/85r16, at 7.86 inches versus 6.64 inches, provides more cushioning from impacts like potholes and bumps. Its smaller diameter also means less rotational mass, reducing the engine effort needed to turn the tires.Įven small differences in rolling resistance and rotational weight impact mileage, making the 225/75r16 the more fuel-efficient. The 225/75r16 produces less rolling resistance with less rubber contacting the road. The narrower 225/75r16 will likely offer slightly better fuel efficiency than the wider 235/85r16. However, it also causes a lower speedometer reading than the smaller diameter 225/75r16. This added clearance is useful for off-road driving, allowing the tires to clear rocks, ruts, and other obstacles. With a diameter of 31.73 inches, the 235/85r16 provides 2.44 inches more ground clearance than the 225/75r16 at 29.29 inches. This means the 235/85r16 may rub against wheel wells or other components when turning at full lock unless a lift kit or leveling kit is installed. The 235/85r16 is 8.3% larger in overall diameter than the 225/75r16, exceeding the 3% limit. Regarding replacing tires, the new set should be within 3% of the overall diameter of the original tires to avoid clearance issues. To better understand the distinctions between 225/75r16 and 235/85r16 tires, you can refer to this comparison table. This means that the 235/85r16 tires will provide a slightly higher ground clearance and will provide a bit more off-road performance. The 235/85r16 tires are 2.44 inches (62 mm) larger in diameter than the 225/75r16 tires. The main difference between 225/75r16 and 235/85r16 tires is their diameter. ![]() We expect most users will want the Elite Edition, which among other things has the new PRIME 2016 denoising RAW tool, ClearView, anti-moire tool and Presets editor. The stories are set in early Victorian England, (in and around the 1840s, according to a date given in The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle). Hugh Lofting's doctor from Puddleby-on-the-Marsh who could speak to animals first saw light in the author's illustrated letters to children, written from the trenches during World War I when actual news, he later said, was either too horrible or too dull. "It does not bother me any more now, but I still feel there should be a category of 'seniles' to offset the epithet." "For years it was a constant source of shock to me to find my writings amongst 'juveniles,'" Lofting reported. Lofting was married three times and had three children, one of whom, his son Christopher, is the executor of his literary estate. Seriously wounded in the war, he moved with his family to Connecticut in the United States. Not wishing to write to his children of the brutality of the war, he wrote imaginative letters that were the foundation of the successful Doctor Dolittle novels for children. He traveled widely as a civil engineer before enlisting in the Irish Guards to serve in World War I. His early education was at Mount St Mary's College in Sheffield, after which he went to the United States, completing a degree in civil engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Lofting was born in Maidenhead, England, to English and Irish parents. Hugh Lofting was a British author, trained as a civil engineer, who created the character of Doctor Dolittle - one of the classics of children's literature. City of Rincon v. This Court granted Columbus’s application for discretionary review, and this appeal followed. It’s nowhere near as bad in the latest generation, but it still won’t be competing with a Bayer sensor for low light performance – more on this later. This of course results in higher than normal noise the early cameras – I used a first-generation DP1 – were basically unusable above base ISO, despite having very large photosites. If you’re thinking Foveon technology is too good to be true, you’ll be masochistically pleased to know there’s a catch: because of the layered design by the time light has been filtered through the first two layers, the signal from the final layer has to be amplified considerably. Sigma claims that the camera has the equivalent of 46MP (being 15.3 total MP x3 layers) – but this is really pushing it images upsampled this far simply do not have the pixel-level ‘bite’ of a good Bayer file. It’s difficult to determine precisely just how much resolution loss Bayer interpolation causes, but in my experience it seems to be around 50% or so. In a nutshell, the difference between Foveon and Bayer sensors is that the former records actual RGB values for each pixel, but the latter only records R, G or B, interpolating the other values from neighboring photosites. In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years, Sigma has been going their own way with the DP series of large sensor compacts all of their cameras now share the same 14.7 MP (effective) three-layered Foveon sensor, with a 4.99 micron pixel pitch and true color/ true resolution information across all photosites. I eventually caved to both pressure and curiosity, and borrowed the Sigma DP3M from master printer and good friend Wesley Wong – who has the DP Merrill in all three flavors. You’re probably wondering why this DP3M doesn’t look anything like the press release photos – my friend attached a RRS grip and plate to it, and rightly so without it, the camera is not very comfortable to hold. But keep in mind that a credit limit increase request could result in a hard pull on your credit report. Tip: One way to lower your credit utilization is to ask your card issuers for higher credit limits. For most of us, something in the range of 20 percent to 25 percent will keep your score in good shape. People with the best scores are in the single-digit percentage points in this category. As soon as you pay your statement, your credit utilization drops. Here’s how it works: If you have a $5,000 credit limit and charge $1,000, your credit utilization is 20 percent. This accounts for up to 30 percent of your FICO score and is extremely influential on your VantageScore. Next is your credit utilization, or how much of your available credit you are using. If a bill comes due and you find that you can’t pay it, it’s always best to call the company and work out a mutually beneficial payment plan to avoid outright missing a payment. To earn the best score, your goal should be to never miss a payment date on any of your accounts, whether that be a loan, mortgage or credit card. Payment history makes up 35 percent of your total FICO score and is considered “moderately influential” on your VantageScore. These are the factors that make up your credit score: Payment history
